Specialist commercial and contractual dispute barrister David Parratt KC (Scot) is featured in TL4’s popular “60-Seconds With” segment, which offers readers an insight into experts in the field with quick-fire questions on their thoughts around and beyond their work. In his interview, published on page 4, David speaks to a range of topics including career anecdotes, personal goals and aspirations.

Commercial barrister Poppy Watson’s article, published on pages 5 and 6, is entitled “Debt, Damages, and the Mackay v Dick Principle: Pay Attention to the Intention”. In her article, Poppy discusses the recent Court of Appeal judgment in King Crude Carriers SA and Ors v Ridgebury November LLC and Ors. The article notes the criteria which need to be met for the Mackay v Dick principle to apply and Poppy highlights why it is important to consider the parties’ intentions when a dispute arises.

David’s practice includes areas such as arbitration, construction & engineering claims, energy disputes (including oil/gas upstream claims), general commercial litigation and commercial contracts. David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), holds Chartered Arbitrator Status and is on the panels of many worldwide arbitration institutions.

Poppy Watson is a commercial barrister with a particular interest in matters involving breach of contract, the sale of goods and disputes in the energy sector. Poppy has previous experience working both in-house and at a commercial law firm and is regularly instructed to draft applications, attend hearings, and advise on a wide range of commercial matters.
